Skelleftea need overtime to down Malmo as Brynas' run halted by Frolunda

Skelleftea looked to have blown the cobwebs off with a 6-1 thrashing of Lulea last time out, but their struggles seemed to be returning when, after a goalless first period, Oscar Lindberg's opener was met with goals from Carl Persson and Oliwer Kaski to put Malmo in front.

Lindberg grabbed his second before Mikkel Aagaard put the home side back in front before the second period was out, but that failed to act as a springboard for Skelleftea, as Kaski notched his second goal with 10 minutes left to force overtime. Just under two minutes in, Andreas Johnson scored to make it 4-3 and spare the hosts' blushes. Skelleftea are up to fourth in the table, with the Redhawks down in 11th with three defeats in a row.

Dropping below Skelleftea into fifth are Brynas, whose three-match, nine-point winning run was ended by Frolunda, who stay top of the table with 14 points out of a possible 15 so far.

Brynas thought another scalp was on the cards when Kieffer Bellows gave them a fourth-minute lead, but Samuel Fagemo drew the home side level in the second period, and with less than 10 minutes remaining, Fagemo and Henrik Tommernes added their second points of the contest by setting up Max Friberg to win it for Frolunda, 2-1.

Farjestad stayed on Frolunda's heels a point behind with a 4-0 drubbing away at Djurgarden, who remain in the bottom two. Per Aslund scored twice as Adam Mattsson and Radim Zohorna grabbed one each, while Melker Thelin saved all 27 of the hosts' shots on goal to complete a shutout.

IF Bjorkloven's dream start continues as a 4-2 win over Vaxjo keeps them in third place, while an inconsistent start from the Lakers sees them in eighth. Fredrik Forsberg scored one and assisted two as the promoted side went 4-0 up after 28 minutes and held off a late fightback from the visitors.

Closing out the top six are Rogle, who secured two wins in succession for the first time this season thanks to a 4-1 win over Timra, who stay rock bottom with two points. Lucas Forsell threatened a comeback for the away side early in the third before Lubos Horky and Linus Sandin closed out the win.

Having lost three in a row and shipped 17 in the process, Lulea answered their critics with a 2-0 victory over Linkoping that sees them climb to ninth. Filip Eriksson scored late in the first and Brien O'Neill found the empty net late on, but Joel Lassinantti was the Lulea hero with 31 saves.

HV 71 picked up their second overtime win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Orebro, who dropped out of the top six. Justin Kloos' opener early in period two was cancelled out by Glenn Gustafsson, before Andreas Borgman won it for the home side in the fifth minute of OT despite being shorthanded.
