Both Plzen and Skelleftea had won four out of four in September's first four rounds, but now only the Czech side remain on maximum points after coming from 2-0 down to beat the Swedish champions 4-2.
Oskar Vuollet and Pontus Johansson's goals had the visitors on course for victory until the final minute of the second period when Adam Mechura halved the deficit, before Plzen turned the match around in the last five minutes through Jakub Chromiak, Jakub Lev and Ondrej Rohlik.
There was more difficulties for Swedish sides against Czech opponents, as despite dominating the early stages of the Swedish Hockey League, European champions Frolunda have lost two of their last three in their title defence, with the latest a 3-2 defeat in overtime to Liberec.
Noah Hasa's strike put Frolunda ahead after period one but that was cancelled out by Radan Lenc's penalty in the second. Tomas Galvas then gave the hosts their first lead of the game but Henrik Tommernes levelled with five minutes left to force OT, where Galvas teed up Swede Filip Sandberg to win it for Liberec. The victors are up to 15th with three straight wins, while Frolunda drop to 11th.
There were no such problems for Sweden's other two sides against Swiss opposition, as Vaxjo and Rogle both picked up their third wins from five matches to climb to sixth and seventh respectively.
Vaxjo won 4-0 at home to Servette despite the Swiss side going into this above the Lakers in the table. Olivier Nadeau broke the deadlock late in the first before Karl Henriksson and Olle Karlsson put the hosts in full control. Keegan Lowe added a shorthanded empty-netter late on as Ludvig Persson needed only make 13 saves to complete a shutout.
Rogle were on for a shutout themselves but in the end were holding on to close out a 3-2 win at home to Davos. Linus Sandin's goal midway through the match added to first-period strikes from Albin Sundsvik and Tinus Koblar, but in the final five minutes Enzo Corvi and Brendan Lemieux made it a nerby finish in Angelholm.
KooKoo have won none of their 10 Liiga matches this season and came into their away trip to Klegenfurt on a 12-match losing run in all competitions, but they blew their hosts away with four goals in the first 20 minutes en route to a 5-3 win, their second victory in the CHL this season.
Goals from Miska Siikonen, Ville Meskanen, Robert Rooba and Kim Nousiainen all arrived within seven minutes, but Klagenfurt got themselves back in it through Thimo Nickl and Nick Petersen in the second before Jesper Jensen made it a one-goal game early in the third. However, Siikonen's second goal less than 20 seconds later settled KooKoo nerves and secured the morale-boosting victory.
SaiPa are up to fourth in the standings thanks to a 3-1 away win at a Graz99ers side bottom of the table and still to pick up a point.
Saku Salminen put the visitors ahead after a first period in which they failed to take further powerplay chances, but they gave themselves breathing space in period two courtesy of Janne Naukkarinen and Petr Fridrich. Nick Swaney pulled one pack for Graz in the opening minute of the third, but that was not enough to stop the Lappeenranta side picking up a third win in five.
In the only match not involving a Swedish or Finnish side on Tuesday 6th, Fribourg got back to winning ways with a 6-1 hammering of Nitra.
