The England international is closing in on a new long-term deal. Arsenal have been working on the renewal for months and his status at the club will be reflected in the terms of his new agreement.

Rice became one of the most significant signings in Arsenal’s history when he joined in 2023, and his influence has grown beyond the role many expected him to fill when he moved across London.

Rice, 27, remains capable of providing the defensive security Arsenal need in midfield, but as part of the next phase of his career, is it anticipted his ability to operate further forward will become increasingly significant.

There is a belief within the club that Rice can yet fully unlock another level of his game, particularly with his ability to carry the ball, take more shots on goal and contribute more actively in the final third.

His development into a player who can influence games at both ends of the pitch has added to his value and helps explain why Arsenal are prepared to reward him with a contract that places him among their top earners.

It is reported that a new contract will elevate him from his current £240,000 per week towards the £350,000 per week of Bukayo Saka. It also reflects Arsenal’s belief that his best years are still ahead of him.

Arteta has increasingly trusted Rice with greater freedom in his play as he has worked towards becoming one of the world's most complete midfielders.

Rice has gone a long way towards proving that his £105m price tag was justified and a new deal will see him commit his prime years to Arsenal.

It was always the plan he would follow boss Mikel Arteta, who penned a new four-year deal on Wednesday.

The club are focused on making sure they are well prepared for an opportunity to dominate English football in the coming seasons.
