They claimed the sixth and final seed in the NL, officially eliminating the Arizona Diamondbacks from playoff contention. The Phillies will now face the Atlanta Braves in a best-of-three Wild Card round. It also marks Philly's fifth-straight Postseason appearance.

Sosa hit a two-run homer himself that brought his season total to nine.

Starting pitcher Zach Wheeler earned his 14th win of the season, bringing his season ERA down to exactly 3.00 after giving up one run on five hits with five strikeouts through six innings. 

After a brutal 9-19 start to the season under former manager Rob Thomson, the Phillies are now 79-55 under Don Mattingly (88-74 on the year) as they look to make yet another World Series push. 

In the past two seasons, however, the Phillies were bounced in four games in the National League Division Series, last year to the Los Angeles Dodgers and in 2024 to the New York Mets.

Prior to their 2022 World Series loss, the Phillies went on a nasty drought as they failed to make the Postseason for 10 straight years.
