FC Midtjylland have signed center-back Andreas Maxso on a contract valid until the new year.

"We are currently in a situation where several of our center-backs are injured. This presents challenges as we look ahead to a packed fixture list," says Sporting Director Kristian Bach Bak.

"It is rare for us as a club to make this kind of deal, but we are pleased to sign a quality player like Maxso. He will step in from day one and be an active part of the dressing room. He knows what it takes, and given his experience, we expect him to make a difference."

The 32-year-old Maxso most recently played for Ittihad Kalba in the United Arab Emirates where his contract expired this summer. Since then, Maxso has kept fit by training with Brondby.

"I look forward to getting started. It has been a while since I played matches, but I have maintained a daily training routine. I also look forward to becoming part of the team and playing some great games," says Maxso.

He hopes to contribute composure and experience.

"And, of course, I want to show my qualities on the pitch. It is a somewhat unusual time with several injuries at the club, but we found ourselves in a situation where both parties saw a good opportunity to make this happen."

Maxso at Brondby anchored the defense with great success from 2019 to 2022 where Brondby won the Danish title in 2021.

At the beginning of 2023, he moved to the MLS club Colorado Rapids.

Maxso had his breakthrough at FC Nordsjaelland and subsequently moved to the Turkish club Osmanlıspor in 2017. He then had stints at FC Zürich and Bayer Uerdingen before heading to Brondby. Maxso has made two appearances for the Danish senior national team.
